Lands of Darkness Cover Preview

Just sent my parents, sister, and niece packing off to the second leg of their vacation after a good 4 days. Much good food and conversation abounded. It was a little weird having a full house, but our little house pulled it off pretty good. Found out my water heater is good for a full group and that all the other utilities function properly. I thought it was such, but a stress test's the only way to find out.

On the work front we haven't got much done as we took a mini-vacation of our own while they were in town, but we did get some art in from our two Barcelonian artists for our new 4e line, Lands of Darkness. I'll attach them to this post. I think they look very swank and capture the 1950-60ish sense of high adventure that we were aiming for - a different retro than expected, but modern in the look back. Something like how I perceive The Venture Brothers on Adult Swim. The first cover, in particular, captures that feeling, IMO.

The first will be out in October, as they are GSL products.

I probably shouldn't have started a blog right before a vacation, but oh well. :) At least I have one!

Nice covers, amigo! And I'm glad you guys had a small vacation, at least.
Yep, the vacation was nice. I only checked to make sure nothing went "boom" at Your Games Now a few times a day, but did pretty much nothing more than that.
Now you know you can have guests out, right?

Covers look great I'm very interested to see what you guys have in store. Are you or Suzi the author or was it someone else? Are you planning on doing modules that are complete episodic or that some way connect?
Yep, the house is now guest certified. :)

Both Suzi and I are the authors for the first two Lands of Darkness, and I suspect we'll author two, perhaps three more as well. Once they're in the channel and we have sales feedback we'll debate on expanding the release schedules if we think they can bear it. Right now it'll be once a month or once every 3 weeks at most and I think that's probably a good timing.

Currently we have no plans for anything but episodic adventures, but plans can change.
They look great. When do pre-orders go up?

Um... we don't know yet? :)

Hrm... I actually don't think we'll be taking pre-orders on these as we'll probably just wait until the October sales date on the GSL to be certain we're clear on that front. Pre-order shouldn't matter as long as the product isn't delivered before the date, but I imagine we'll wait to be safer.
Nice cover design. It should stand out well on shelves.

If I was going to make one minor tweak I would say tighten the title type (so that the second line isn't so far away from the first).
Good eye, Phil. We'll tighten up the line spacing as it will look better.
